Hi, At our last horse management meeting Friday and mount on Saturday,we had 4 new members join us! During horse management, Julee taught about good vs. bad conformation, colors and markings. It was a lively evening and everyone had fun trying to figure out what color of horse was taped on their back :) The new members were so cute on their ponies and will be such a great asset to the club.

Games Day was a blast. We had 10 riders participate. The weather was hot but not as bad as it's been! The kids had fun racing, balancing balls on tennis rackets, eggs in spoons, rescuing partners, winning by being the slowest?! , manuevering to get in a stall for musical stalls, pole bending, bobbing for apples (both kids and horses/ponies!)and being able to "ride-a-buck." We saw great sports"girl"ship, lots of switching of mounts and lots of laughs too. It was great having the 2 clubs together. We are planning another Games Day for winter or spring when it's coole...... Read More

Mr. Volbeda was just finishing disking the dressage arena when we arrived for our mount on Saturday. Both riding areas look wonderful!! While I was putting the jumps back together, I noticed that many of them need a new paint job. We also need to have a "Rock" party as the disking brought up more rocks.... Anyways, it was great to have the dressage arena back in shape so Sara took advantage of that and everyone got some dressage in. The younger girls worked on making nice, round circles and lengthening and shortening their horse/pony's stride at the trot. Angela worked on how to ...... Read More

Hi, We had 2friends join us for Bring a Friend nightat our meeting tonight. We discussed types of feed (grass, hay, grain, vitamins, treats)and their nutritional value and importance in a horse/pony's diet, supplements, treats and how much to feed of each. We also talked about the importance of fresh, clean water and how much the average horse drinks daily (12-20 gallons!). We looked at pictures of horses in different weight conditions and talked about how to tell if a horse is skinny, ideal or too fat by looking at them and feeling for their ribs.We went over the 10 Pony Club rules for fe...... The weather actually cut us some slack this morning so it wasn't sooo hot. Kelly, Shaylea and Hannah were eager to practice their Games Day skills so Sara had them practice stopping and starting quickly, neck reining , riding next to each other as partners and other basic skills needed. Then they practiced pole bending, balancing balls in lacrosse rackets at the walk, trot and then while pole bending and dropping balls in a bucket. Hannah learned how to mount by herself today! Julee schooled Tahoe for Kelly as her lesson and they did really well together.

Hi, Kelly, Shaylea and I left for camp around noon on Thursday. We got nice corrals and the girls were happy to be near some friends of theirs from Riverside Hills PC. We finally managed to get our new tent figured out and up and luckily got a shady spot under some pepper trees. Kelly had her first lesson at 3:30, cross country. Tahoe has never really been out in the open and it proved to be challenging. He liked galloping in the field and started crow-hopping! He was going over everything Kelly pointed him at but popped over them really high! At one point, he went overa jump, then started cro...... Read More
